INVESTMENT TRACKING
Track crypto, stocks, funds and gold in one diary
Keep contributions, purchases, fees and daily observations separate so your tracker remains understandable.

The daily tracker accepts crypto plus manually entered stocks, funds and gold. Record the category, asset label and unit clearly. A gold purchase in grams and a fund purchase in shares can coexist, but their quantities should never be added together as if they describe the same thing. The tracker uses USD amounts; convert non-USD records consistently before entry and keep the conversion assumption in your notes.
Separate cash flows from internal activity
Consider a $1,000 deposit followed by buying five grams of gold at $80 per gram and paying a $4 fee. The purchase uses $400 plus the fee. It is not an additional external contribution.
| Record | Amount or meaning |
|---|---|
| Deposit | $1,000 of external money |
| Gold purchase | 5 grams × $80 = $400 |
| Trade fee | $4, recorded once |
| Cash remaining | $596 under these assumptions |
| Total value at unchanged gold price | $996 including cash |
Entering another $400 deposit for the purchase would overstate contributions. Likewise, adding a separate fee activity after including that same $4 in the trade would count it twice.
Record an observation, not an invented return
Suppose the following day you deposit $200 and manually observe total investments plus cash of $1,206. The raw increase from $996 is $210, but $200 came from you. The remaining $10 is only an explanatory difference under these simplified assumptions, not a time-weighted or money-weighted return calculation. Exact returns require cash-flow timing and a defined method.
A practical recording sequence
- Select the correct portfolio before entering activity.
- Add actual deposits, withdrawals, purchases, sales, income and fees with their dates.
- Save a daily review with total investment value including cash.
- Use a consistent observation time and explain unusual changes in notes.
- Check the chart range and report month before exporting.
Missing observation days stay missing. The site does not invent daily values between entries. Imported transactions and the holdings list are separate from this diary; they are not automatically reconciled into an accounting ledger.
Protect your work
Download a full JSON backup regularly and keep it outside the browser. Browser storage is tied to the site origin and can be removed when site data is cleared. A report is useful for reading, but it is not a substitute for a restorable workspace backup.
